Forest officials rescue 20 wild boars in Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh, case filed

The rescued wild boars were caught in the jungles of Dhanora and transported to Muzaffarnagar.

A team of forest officials on Monday intercepted a pickup truck near Bawanpura village in Bijnor district of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh and recovered 20 wild boars caught in the Dhanora jungle and transported to Muzaffarnagar.

Giving this information, Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) of Bijnor forest district, Gyan Singh, said that a case under sections 2, 9, 39, 51 and 52 of the Wildlife Protection Act 1972, sections 41/42 of the Indian Forest Act and sections 7/550 of the Biodiversity Act 2002 was pending against Rohit, Sanoj, Nitin and Krishanpal Singh, residents of Dhanora and Muzaffarnagar.

He said that teams of forest officials were conducting raids to arrest them. Singh said that the forest officials had received a tip-off that 20 wild boars were being transported in a pickup truck. A team of forest officials tracked the vehicle and intercepted it near Bawanpura village. The driver of the truck escaped and the team recovered 20 wild boars that had been thrown into the truck with their legs tied.

The owner of the truck was identified from the registration papers as one Krishanpal Singh and the informant also identified the driver Nitin as well as Rohit and Sanoj.
