Florida Governor Ron DeSantis on the victory at the Lake Mary Little League World Series: “Makes everyone in Florida proud”

Before their victory parade at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom and their parade and street festival in downtown Lake Mary, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis made some remarks Wednesday about the Lake Mary Little League’s victory in the 2024 World Series.

Governor DeSantis made the remarks ahead of a scheduled press conference at the Polk County Sheriff’s Office in Winter Haven.

“I just want to congratulate the Lake Mary Little League on winning the Little League World Series,” said Governor DeSantis, followed by applause and cheers from those behind him and in the room.

“We have had very successful baseball teams in Florida for a long time – from Little League to high school – across the board. They are the first team from Florida to win the overall Little League World Series championship. Congratulations to them. They have made everyone in Florida proud.”

The Lake Mary All-Stars defeated Texas on Saturday to win the U.S. championship and advance to the World Series in a stunning comeback victory. On Sunday, the All-Stars defeated Chinese Taipei 2-1 in another overtime comeback victory to advance to the title game.

Florida has participated in the Little League World Series nine times, but this was the first time the team won the championship title.
