While mega superstars can only connect with their fans through social media, some big names prefer to stay away from the world of social media. One such name is veteran Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe, who to date has no presence on any social media platform.

As USA TODAY reported in 2020, Radcliffe spoke to First We Feasts’ “Hot Ones” about why he chose to stay away from the world of social media.

“I’d like to say there’s some intellectual, considered reason for this, because I’ve been thinking about getting a Twitter account and I’m 100 percent sure you’d all wake up to stories like ‘Dan Radcliffe gets into an argument with some guy on Twitter,'” he added.

The actor then added another important point, saying he didn’t think he was mentally strong enough to be active on social media. He said when he was younger, he would “search and read comments about himself on the internet. Which, he admitted at the time, was a very bad thing to do.”

In addition, the “Harry Potter” actor, who rose to fame as a teenager with his iconic character from the series, revealed in 2019 that he used alcohol to cope with the challenges that came with rising to stardom at a young age.

“The quickest way to forget the fact that you’re being watched is to get very drunk,” he said in a 2020 interview with Off Camera with Sam Jones.

But he also admitted that as a star, once you get very drunk, you are aware that people are watching you and that you end up drinking even more, which leads to a vicious cycle.

Although the star has several fan pages on Instagram, one of which has around 3.2 million followers, there are hardly any details about his life there.

Radcliffe added that there is “no blueprint for how to start young and work things out.” He expressed concern for stars like Justin Bieber and Jaden Smith, as well as many others who face the pressure of growing up in the public eye.

The actor grew up as an only child in London and soon developed an interest in show business. He became famous at the age of 12 and has enchanted us with all his appearances on screen ever since.

The passion for acting seems to run in the family, as both of Radcliffe’s parents, Alan and Marcia, were actors as children. They have been very supportive of Daniel’s career.

Meanwhile, Daniel has been in a committed relationship with actress Erin Darke since 2012 and also became a father in 2024.
