Flags of the Enterprise are lowered to half-mast because of the killed flight instructor

ENTERPRISE, Alabama (WTVY) – The city of Enterprise was authorized by Alabama Governor Kay Ivey to fly all city flags at half-staff on Wednesday.

In a letter to Enterprise Mayor William E. Cooper on Tuesday, Governor Ivey stated that the city is permitted to direct that all flags within city limits be flown this flag to honor the life and service of retired CW3 Daniel Lee Munger.

Munger, an Illinois native, was working as a contract pilot instructor when he was killed during flight training aboard an AH-64 Apache helicopter at Fort Novosel last Wednesday. He was 46 at the time of the crash.

After graduating from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, Munger served in the Army for 27 years before retiring. He leaves behind his wife, Mika, and their three daughters, Madilyn, Sadie and Cora, all of Enterprise.

On August 14, the day of Munger’s memorial service, flags in the city of Enterprise will fly at half-mast from sunrise to sunset.
