First day of school for Longmeadow High School

LONGMEADOW, Massachusetts (WGGB/WSHM) — Back to school week continues and for many students in Longmeadow, students are returning to the classroom.

When one school year ends, the main focus of the school administration is naturally on preparing for the next one.

And that day has finally come, because on Tuesday classes 1 to 12 start, and on Wednesday the kindergarten and preschool children have their first day.

Of course, school buses will be on the road most of the day.

So, dear drivers, please obey the speed limit when you are in a school zone.

And if you see a school bus and the yellow and red flashing lights are on, please do not pass.

This is against the law and can be dangerous. You could be punished for doing so.

Now here on Grassy Gutter Road where Longmeadow High School is located.

This street is always congested when students are dropped off by the bus or their parents.

Therefore, if you plan to take this road, as well as Bliss Road and Williams Street, you should find an alternate route between 7:00 and 8:00 a.m. before school starts.

Still, the start of the new school year is a big day for many people in the Longmeadow Public Schools community.
