Fans are hoping that Gervonta Davis and Shakur Stevenson will put their winning streaks and lightweight titles on the line in an all-American fight.

The two fighters are among the most respected in boxing for very different reasons – “Tank” Davis for his extreme power and ferocious finishes, Shakur for his calculated scoring and elusive moves.

Speaking to FightHype, Robert Meriwether III used his knowledge of sparring with Davis, Stevenson and Devin Haney to support the big puncher from Baltimore in both matches.

“In my opinion, I won over Tank. But I feel like it’s a tough fight between everyone. They have really good skills, IQs and know what they’re doing.

Tank has the experience and power. We don’t know if Shakur or Devin has enough power to keep Tank off of him. He goes in there and just wants to kill. He hits and hits right back. We have to see if Shakur can build muscle and strength. Right now he’s not going to be able to do that.”

While Haney holds the WBC super lightweight belt, Davis and Stevenson still compete in the 135 kg class and are the most likely of the trio to face each other.

Fans thought they might see this fight later this year when Vasiliy Lomachenko dropped out of the running for a fight with Davis, but it was later confirmed that no official talks have taken place and Stevenson is apparently eyeing a fight with number one contender William Zepeda instead.

Meriwether, for his part, will return to the ring for a third time this September, attempting to extend his undefeated super featherweight record to 7-0.
