Father mourns 7-year-old daughter who was drowned by his mother

HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) – A father is mourning the loss of his 7-year-old daughter, Piper, after she was drowned by her mother a month ago.

According to police, Brandi Elliott admitted to killing her in Drakes Creek on a grass verge in Hendersonville.

Now her father, Jon Elliott, who stayed home to raise Piper, hopes her memory lives on.

“I’m proud of the little girl I raised. I’m just sad that she’s gone. I miss her,” he told us.

He said she was a huge fan of music, fishing, dancing, Disney princesses and anything Gordon Ramsey related. She was also very loving and affectionate and even won the “best hug award” at school.

“She was only 7, but she brightened so many people’s days and touched so many people’s lives,” he said.

A memorial to Piper near Sanders Ferry Road, where she disappeared, has grown larger every day since her death. Soon, community members hope to erect a bench and plaque in her honor and name the nearby walkway “Piper’s Pathway.”

Her father says Piper’s funeral will be this Saturday.

Her mother, Brandi Elliott, remains in prison and is accused of first-degree murder.

She is over 80 and almost blind. Woman from Franklin continues to crochet for those in need

“Here’s a great story that proves that everyone has something to give, regardless of age OR personal challenges. Our Austin Pollack introduces us to Ms. Sylvia Mooney. At 80 years old, she is not sitting still. Instead, she is using her skills to create compassion for others… one stitch at a time. Her crochet work goes to nonprofits to help our homeless neighbors. You might be surprised to know that she manages to do all of this while battling a serious health issue. Bravo Sylvia!”
