Fans shower Kelly Clarkson with praise after the singer made a little dig at herself over the weekend.

The “Breakway” actor was one of many who celebrated the 20th anniversary of the sequel to Disney’s Suddenly a Princessby sharing a post by the movie star on Instagram, Anne Hathawaywhich included a clip from the song’s music video.

In it, Clarkson comes to the red carpet for the premiere of The Princess Diaries 2dressed in an evening dress with a chunky statement necklace and sunglasses, even though it was night.

“Wearing sunglasses on a red carpet at night… I was so cool 😂🤦‍♀️,” she captioned the post, poking fun at herself with a facepalm emoji. However, her followers jumped to her defense of the classic early noughties fashion, which many described as “ICONIC” and “legendary! 😎😎😎.”

“Honestly the look was an attempt,” explained one fan, while another argued, “Everyone was so cool back then! 👏😎.”

“But Kelly, we all had those sunglasses baby. You were our idol. 👀,” another agreed, while another assured her, “You’re always cool!! I love you so much,” and a third told her, “Embrace it!!”

“I love this song, this video and this moment!” cheered another.

Many also asked for more related content from the musician, some asked for a remake of the hit single, possibly inspired by her own proposal for Taylor Swift re-recording their early catalog, and it is hoped that Clarkson might “write a song for the next Suddenly a Princess film,” which is reportedly in development.
