“I’m lonely because I know she’ll never come home,” Melissa said tearfully.

“I’ve probably slept a total of eight hours since then. I’m staring down the hall just waiting for her to come home, but she’s not coming,” Matthew said.

Matthew said that when he was seven years old, Samantha encouraged him to ask her mother out on a date. He credited his stepdaughter with bringing him and his wife together.

Melissa became emotional as she remembered the career Recore would like to pursue.

“If only someone had tracked her down, I could handle it. I can handle it, but I don’t accept that. I don’t accept that,” Melissa explained.
