Fallout Classic Collection can be requested for free from the Epic Games Store

Fallout Classic Collection can be requested for free from the Epic Games Store

Key findings

  • The Fallout Classic Collection can be requested for free from the Epic Games Store now until September 5, 2024.
  • The collection includes the first three Fallout games – Fallout, Fallout 2 and Fallout Tactics.
  • If you’re looking for something completely different, you can also claim Wildcard Football for free via Epic.

As expensive as it can be to play everything you want, there are also more games than ever available through subscription services or, in some cases, completely free. Fallout Classic Collection falls into that latter category as of now. Epic is back at it again to give you games for free in an attempt to lure you away from Steam and get you to use its PC games store instead, and this week one of its free games is a big one.

That’s partly because it’s technically three games. The Fallout Classic Collection is the first three games in the series bundled together. No, Fallout 3 isn’t included. The collection consists of Fallout, Fallout 2, and Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood Of Steel. The collection hasn’t been available from Epic before, but purchasing the three games individually through the store costs $29.97, so you can save nearly $30 by claiming them for free between now and September 5.

This isn’t a subscription service where the games disappear at a later date. There’s no catch, once you’ve claimed the collection you get to keep it even if you never bought or will ever buy another game from the Epic Games Store again.

Whether you fell in love with Fallout through Amazon’s adaptation, or you’ve played the modern Fallout games and want to experience more, you’ll want to keep in mind what the games included in the Classic Collection actually are. While they’re set in the same universe as Fallout 3 and later, they’re much older and therefore very different visually. They’re top to bottom, and Brotherhood Of Steel in particular will be very different from any Fallout experience you’ve had before.

As if three Fallout games in one collection weren’t enough, Epic is giving away another free game this week – Wild Card Football. I know I’m not the only one who’s gotten bored of Madden, and despite its early success, the return of college football to video games isn’t for everyone. Wild Card Football is an arcade-style game that throws power-ups into the mix that might be the answer to your football game woes. Or maybe not, but it’s free, so why not give it a try?

about Epic Games

If you noticed that The Callisto Protocol was free on Epic and resolved to claim it before it’s too late, we have bad news: it’s too late. The good news is that if you’re an Amazon Prime subscriber, you can now claim even more free games, and very good ones at that. Amazon is gifting all Prime subscribers Lego Lord Of The Rings and Middle-earth: Shadow Of Mordor to celebrate the release of Rings Of Power season 2, the first three episodes of which are now streaming on Amazon Prime.
