On Sheboygan’s 7 hectares Bookworm Gardensclassic stories come to life. Bookworm has 70 different gardens open from May to October, featuring lush flowers and colorfully painted and designed vignettes such as “The Bountiful Tree,” “Jack and His Beanstalk,” and “Horton Hatching His Egg.”

Kids can dig for dinosaur bones, explore a playhouse for a monster and more. The site is also part of a unique national program called Read in Color, which aims to make diverse voices heard. And kids can choose a book to take home from Little Free Library boxes set up in the gardens and other sites around Sheboygan.
