Fact or fiction – analysis of Arsenal’s current links to top-class attackers

TRANSMITTING FACTS OR FICTIONS

Arsenal have been linked with a whole host of players over the course of this transfer window, however the credibility of these links can vary due to various circumstances. By looking at some of the players we have been linked with, we can easily assess our chances of signing such a player. Still, it may not be known what exactly the club is looking for, as opportunities could arise in the market for players we have not previously been linked with. But let’s go through potential signings we could actually make, with transfer facts or fiction.

VICTOR OSIMHEN: The Nigerian striker, who has been linked with a move to Chelsea all summer, has recently been mooted as a possible signing for the Gunners. Given his strained relationship with the club, he has submitted a transfer request but he has no desire to join Chelsea on loan. However, it could be complicated for Arsenal to negotiate a deal for the striker due to the high wage demand and an even higher transfer fee (over £100 million). I think this could be one of those players we just have interest in and do nothing more. However, things could still develop but for now, it is transfer – fiction

VICTOR GYÖKERES: Another striker on this list. The Gooners equally believed we would sign the Swede as an alternative to Sesko, but we failed to make things concrete. Following the news that Sporting Lisbon had lowered Coventry’s sell-on clause, it was suggested that they were preparing to capitalise. With links to Arsenal throughout the transfer window, if he was a top target we would probably have signed him by now, given how early Sesko signed a new contract. However, the transfer fee could also be a hindrance, given that he has not yet been tested in a major league. Fiction

LEROY SANE: The Bayern winger is said to be an “observer” towards the end of the transfer window, considering how Bayern might still develop. He is said to be ready to explore his options if he feels he is no longer needed. Arsenal are said to be keeping a close eye on his situation in case a transfer opportunity arises. I could see Arsenal making this transfer given his quality, experience and Premier League know-how. – Facts
