Exciting Bears rookie is called a “Draft Day bargain,” 2024 season is approaching

The Chicago Bears had an impressive offseason.

Chicago took a step forward in 2023 and should be much better in 2024. The Bears have strengthened their roster with several new players – including receiver Keenan Allen and running back D’Andre Swift.

Much of the talk this offseason has revolved around the Bears’ decision to select Caleb Williams as their starting quarterback for the foreseeable future. Williams has been great in the preseason and has the potential to be a star.

He’s not the only Bears rookie getting a lot of praise, though. Austin Booker, selected in the fifth round of the draft, shined in training camp and was named one of the “Draft Day Steals” by Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report.

“Most of the Chicago Bears rumors this offseason have centered around Williams and, to a lesser extent, fellow first-round pick Rome Odunze,” Knox said. “However, fifth-round rookie Austin Booker has also entered the conversation. The Bears needed a high-level addition to their pass rush this offseason to complement Montez Sweat. They could still target one of the remaining edge rushers in free agency, but it’s starting to look like Booker could completely fill the void.

“It’s only Game 1 of the preseason, but Booker certainly impressed in his debut. The Kansas product regularly forced his way into the Buffalo Bills’ backfield and finished with 2.5 sacks, two tackles for loss and four solo stops. The rookie has certainly caught the attention of defensive coordinator Eric Washington.”

Things are looking up in Chicago.
