Below is a list of games featured in each episode.

  • Armored core
  • Unity
  • Crossfire
  • Dungeons & Dragons
  • Exodus

This is a really interesting list and I’m incredibly excited to see what they do with many of these properties, especially PAC-MAN and Mega Man.

Who does Secret Level?

Secret Level is created by the creative team that also worked on Love, death and robots for Netflix. This series was incredible, combining really entertaining and engaging writing with beautiful visuals to tell a series of stories. It’s also a really fun way to explore video games in a different medium and it’s really nice to see a continued return of anthology shows.

Why your favorite game is not part of the series

I’ve heard a lot of people talk about games outside of the series as if the involvement of a particular IP was a given. I’m sure the developers had a long list of games they were interested in, and I’m also sure legal difficulties would have knocked some of them out of the running.

Quite simply, it can take years to sort out such things because some of the intellectual property involved is worth hundreds of millions and it needs to be protected because the damage caused by a bad product is a major concern for executives.

Others may have already signed exploratory deals with other companies or organizations, or may be in the middle of negotiations to sell the rights to their games and universes. Some may even be in the middle of negotiations to get involved with this show, but may be aiming for a second season rather than joining the first.

At its core, it’s all pretty complex, and just because a game is popular, visually appealing, and extremely engaging doesn’t mean it’s the kind of game that truly inspires the creative minds behind the show.
