Events in the Fox Valley include the Calumet County Fair and the Fox Jazz Fest

FOX CITIES – The area will host several major events over Labor Day weekend, including the Calumet County Fair, where Neal McCoy will headline a night of grandstand entertainment, and the annual Fox Jazz Festival, which will be held at Jefferson Park in Menasha.

Other events next week include Bratoberfest at the Timber Rattlers home games and a Stone Arch Session concert by Matt Charette.

Here’s what you should know:

Neal McCoy is headlining the Calumet County Fair on September 1st

The Calumet County Fair will be held August 30 through September 2 at the fairgrounds, 200 W. Chestnut St., Chilton.

In addition to the 4-H exhibits and competitions, there will be a cornhole tournament, a tractor pull for children, a wood carving demonstration, and several local bands providing entertainment.

Truck and tractor pulls and bulls and barrel competitions will provide entertainment in the stands, and Neal McCoy will headline on September 1. Tickets for the concert can be purchased in advance at ticketstaronline.com.

Menasha hosts the 29th annual Fox Jazz Fest

The 29th annual Fox Jazz Festival will be held August 31 and September 1 at Jefferson Park in Menasha.

The free, family-friendly music festival celebrates jazz with local, regional and national artists. Local vendors also offer food and drinks.

Lakecia Benjamin is the headliner for August 31st and Jazzmeia Horn will headline the September 1st lineup.

The Trout Museum offers free admission and art classes

The first Thursday of every month offers a free admission day for the galleries at the Trout Museum of Art. The museum’s three floors host 12 to 18 exhibitions each year to highlight the work of local, national and international artists.

The museum also offers various art courses for teenagers and adults, as well as art camps and workshops for young people.

Timber Rattlers celebrate Bratoberfest from 29 to 31 August

The Wisconsin Brats will return in 2024 for three games wearing their infamous checkered green lederhosen jerseys during Bratoberfest at Timber Rattler home games.

At the August 29th game, the first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive a hat, at the August 30th game, a beer mallet will be given away, and at the August 31st game, a Brice Turang bobblehead will be given away.

After the games on August 30 and 31, children run around the bases, followed by a fireworks display.

Lawn seating starts at $10, but ticket packages are also available. Check out your options at milb.com/wisconsin.

Matt Charette is the featured artist at the Stone Arch Session on September 3rd

Matt Charette will perform at the Stone Arch Sessions on September 3. Doors open at 5 p.m., music begins at 7 p.m. at the Stone Arch Brewpub, 1004 S. Olde Oneida St., Appleton.

A donation of $10 is requested at the door.

The online description states: Describing himself as a “reformed punk,” Charette is one of the most industrious and well-known members of the Boston music scene. With his backing band, Truer Sound, he creates hard-hitting rock songs that seamlessly blend alternative, punk, country, and Americana.
