‘Even after losing teeth…’: DMK minister hits back at Rajinikanth’s ‘old student’ remark | India News

NEW DELHI: Experienced actor Rajinikanth‘s “old student” remark for the senior DMK Leader angered some in the party when one of the ministers took a nasty swipe at the superstar, saying that old Actor “Continues to work even after beard growth and tooth loss.”
On Saturday, Rajinikanth praised at a book launch Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin for the “guidance” of senior DMK leaders while declaring that the ex-students “would not leave the class” (to clear the way for the new leaders).
“One thing amazes me. Dealing with new students in school will not be a problem, but it is not an easy thing to deal with old students (management). Here (in the DMK) we have many former students. These too are not ordinary students. All are extraordinary former students,” said Rajinikanth while launching the book on former Prime Minister M. Karunanidhi, who also happens to be the father of Prime Minister Stalin.
Rajnikanth further said, “All these old students are rank holders and say that they will not leave the class… Especially we have Durai Murugan…We can’t say anything. Stalin, sir, hats off to you for having everything under control.”
Reacting to Rajinikanth’s remark, Durai Murugan said, “In a similar situation, even we can say that young artists are losing Opportunities because of the old actors who continue to act even though they have grown beards and lost teeth.”
When the actor’s statement caused a stir in the party, Udhayanidhi Stalinthe son of MK Stalin, said the youth were ready to join their party.
“The youth are ready and willing to come to our side. We just need to give them the space and hold their hand to guide them. Superstar Rajinikanth’s speech received huge applause. You all have seen that speech,” Stalin junior was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
Later, Rajinikanth spoke to the media and said that his friendship with Murugan will always remain and that what he says is not an issue.
“Durai Murugan is my long-time friend. Whatever he says is not a problem, our friendship will always remain,” Rajinikanth said, according to ANI.
DMK minister Murugan also dismissed any tension between him and the actor, saying: “One of us should take our jokes as enmity.”
“I am saying the same thing that Rajinikanth said. No one should take our jokes as an enmity. We will always remain friends, as we were before,” Murugan said.
