Britain’s Dan Evans is back in action on day four of the US Open after his epic five-set first-round win.

The 34-year-old recovered from a 0-4 deficit in the final set to defeat 23rd seed Karen Khachanov after five hours and 35 minutes – making the match the longest in the tournament’s history.

Two days later, Evans will be back on the court for his second-round match against Argentina’s Mariano Navone.

Navone is in the second round for the first time after a four-set victory over German Daniel Altmaier.

Court five will be dominated by the British on Thursday, Evans follows Katie Boulter And Jack Draper.

British number one Boulter, seeded 31st, will face Spaniard Jessica Bouzas Maneiro from around 6pm BST.

Bouzas Maneiro may be ranked 74th in the world, but she should not be taken lightly, as she achieved a surprising first-round victory against defending champion Marketa Vondrousova at Wimbledon earlier this year.

Boulter came back from a set behind to defeat Belarusian qualifier Aliaksandra Sasnovich in the first round.

Meanwhile, fellow Briton and number one Draper will play against Argentinian Facundo Diaz Acosta.

Draper comfortably made it into the second round when Chinese number one Zhang Zhizhen retired with a knee injury while the 25th seed Briton led 6-3, 6-0, 4-0.

The British interest in Court 5 does not end here, because Joe Salisbury and American partner Rajeev Ram begin their attempt to win their fourth consecutive men’s doubles title in New York.

The third-seeded players will face Diaz Acosta and his compatriot Tomas Martin Etcheverry.

Who else is on duty on the fourth day?

World number one Jannik Sinner opens the match at Arthur Ashe Stadium against Alex Michelsen from the USA.

Italian Sinner is aiming for his second Grand Slam title after winning the Australian Open, but has endured a turbulent time in the run-up to the tournament after it was revealed in March that he tested positive for a banned substance.

Sinner is followed by the top seed in the women’s singles, Iga Swiatek, who is the clear favorite against the Japanese qualifier Ena Shibahara.

Two-time US Open champion Naomi Osaka of Japan opens the evening session against Karolina Muchova of the Czech Republic.

The final match is between Carlos Alcaraz and the Dutchman Botic van de Zandschlup.

Elsewhere, French Open and Wimbledon finalist Jasmine Paolini will face former world number one Karolina Pliskova, followed by an all-American contest between Emma Raducanu’s conqueror Sofia Kenin and sixth seed Jessica Peluga.

The fifth seeded men’s player Daniil Medvedev will face Hungarian Fabian Marozsan in the evening session.

There’s also plenty of double action with plenty of British interest.

Jamie Murray will play in both the men’s and mixed doubles at number six, Heather Watson will compete in the women’s doubles, while Neal Skupski and partner Desirae Krawczyk from the USA will also be in action.

Harriet Dart, Lloyd Glasspool, Olivia Nicholls, Maia Lumsden and Luke Johnson are the other Brits on the court in doubles.
