WILMINGTON – After a brave battle with pulmonary fibrosis, Eula Mae Potter left this world and went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, August 6.

Eula was born on June 18, 1942 in Bolton, North Carolina, the daughter of the late Mary Lee and William Hardy King. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Edgar (Buck) Potter, her brothers Homer, Graham, Lane and Hollis, and her sisters Sara, Becky, Ann and Margo (Kitty).

After moving from Bolton to Wilmington, Eula attended the James Walker School of Nursing and graduated in 1963. After graduating, she worked as an operating room nurse at New Hanover Regional Medical Center for 32 years. Many of the doctors, nurses and staff became part of her extended family.

In 1987, Eula married the love of her life, Edgar (Buck) Potter. Together, Eula and Buck shared a picture-perfect life of love. For 33 years, they shared a marriage rooted in Christ and filled with love. They enjoyed extensive travel and time with family and friends. Eula and Buck found a church home at Winter Park Baptist Church, where their faith grew and deep and lasting friendships were formed. In addition to being active in Sunday school, they were active at Keenagers, and cherished the relationships they formed through Bible study, shared meals, and playing dominoes.

Eula leaves behind a brother, Andrew King and his wife Martha, several loving nieces and nephews, two special brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law.
