ESPN Africa is set for an epic European football season

African football stars shine in European leagues and live across Africa

Johannesburg, August 13, 2024: Football fans across Africa have a lot to look forward to as the 2024/25 European football season is just around the corner. ESPN Africa will once again broadcast the Belgian Jupiler Pro League, English Football League, EredivisieThe German DFB CupThe National Women’s Football League and The Scottish professional football league. Besides that Turkish Super League has been included in the programme and promises audiences across the continent a thrilling experience with the most exciting football moments from Europe.

The Süper Lig aims to establish itself as one of Europe’s top leagues and has always attracted bettors’ interest. This year, there will be a lot at stake at all levels, with 20 of Turkey’s best clubs battling it out for the title from August 2024 to May 2025.

Celtic, the reigning Scottish Premiership champions, have enjoyed an impressive three-year winning streak, proving their dominance in Scottish football. Their Old Firm rivals Rangers have also performed consistently, securing second place in the same period. This ongoing competition highlights the intense rivalry and high standard of play within the league, and there is no doubt that Heart of Midlothian and Aberdeen, who have finished third and fourth in the last two years, will have their eyes on the trophy next season.

The Eredivisie promises to be another exciting season, as record holders Ajax Amsterdam and former champions Feyenoord are looking to steal the trophy from reigning champions PSV. The league with 18 teams is the highest football division in the Netherlands and an absolute favorite among football spectators.

The upcoming season of the English Football League is set to be more exciting than ever, with EPL relegated teams Sheffield United, Burnley and Luton all aiming for automatic promotion from the EFL back to the EPL.

The Belgian Jupiler Pro League once again features several African stars who continue to bring their exceptional talent to the league. These star players include Alieu Fadera (Racing Genk – Gambia), Majeed Ashimeru (Anderlecht – Ghana), Tarik Tissoudali (Gent, Morocco), Gift Orban (Gent, Nigeria), Jean Thierry Lazare (Union SG, Ivory Coast) and Denis Odoi (Club Brugge, Ghana).

Earlier this year, ESPN Africa secured the US National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) title. Fans can now look forward to two NWSL matches each week, both live and replayed, as well as a weekly recap show on ESPN, leading up to the exciting playoffs and NWSL Championship this November.

African football fans can look forward to an exciting schedule of live football coverage from these various leagues every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with additional coverage and match highlights throughout the week. In addition, ESPN Africa will increase the excitement throughout the season with behind-the-scenes updates and additional content on social media.
