We’re back with another AFTN soccer show full of chats and interviews about the Vancouver Whitecaps, Pacific FC, Vancouver FC and the Canadian Championship.
The Whitecaps have no MLS action this weekend due to the Leagues Cup final, so it’s full steam ahead for next week’s Canadian Championship semi-final second leg against CPL side Pacific FC. We preview the game and Pacific’s major dip in form as the Whitecaps will approach this game cold. Plus, we hear some opinions from both head coaches, the “Caps.” Vanni Sartini and Pacific’s James Merriman.
In the first of two interviews in this episode, we talk to Pacific’s most important defense player Thomas Meilleur-Giguère to talk about the game, Pacific’s season so far, his personal soccer career and adjusting to island life in British Columbia after the hectic city life in Quebec. We also talk to a defenseman who left Pacific and went back to college. Eric Lajeunesse. Eric played in the first leg and now looks ahead to the return leg as he talks about his time in the CPL so far and his return to collegiate play with UBC.
Our second feature interview is with a former UBC Thunderbird and current Vancouver FC player, Sebastian DzikowskiWe chat with the striker about his time in college, the transition to professional sports and his attempts to break into a VFC team that is currently in a tough playoff battle.
All this and there is still time to talk about the tough performance of the Whitecaps Girls Elite in Mexico in the CONCACAF Champions Cup, to chat with the center back Keira Martinand bring you a wavelength Song about a much-maligned and long-forgotten English cup competition.
