Epic Grammy blunder with incorrect announcement of winner

Epic Grammy blunder with incorrect announcement of winner

It was announced that Nicki Minaj had won a Grammy – but not for long.

The controversial rapper’s song “Barbie World” was declared the winner in the Best Rap Song category online on the Recording Academy’s official X/Twitter page before it was quickly withdrawn and replaced.

“Congratulations to the winners of Best Rap Song – “Barbie World from Barbie The Album” @nickiminaj,” the Academy posted along with a link to the awards ceremony.

Within minutes, however, the post was deleted and replaced with a new one announcing that Killer Mike’s “Scientists & Engineers” had indeed won.

Nicki’s fans were quick to speak of a conspiracy.

“It’s like Nicki won and every tweet was planned but they changed the winner at the last second,” one tweeted, while another fan wrote, “But when Nicki said the industry was planning something against her y’all thought she was crazy.”

Nicki’s difficult relationship with the Grammys is well documented – in 2022, she claimed that the Recording Academy specifically moved her song “Super Freaky Girl” from the rap category to the pop category to reduce her chances of winning.

“This was done to decrease my chances of winning awards,” Nicki wrote in an Instagram story.

“This was done to remove me from the category where they don’t want COMPETITION!”
