The theme of Fortnite Chapter 5, Season 4 was summed up in one word by Mark Rein, co-founder of Epic Games.
The Epic boss has continued his tradition for another season of revealing a mysterious word shortly before the start of each upcoming Fortnite season.
For Chapter 5, Season 2, he gave “Wings,” referring to the Greek mythology theme and the transportation item “Wings of Icarus.” Meanwhile, for Chapter 5, Season 3, he shared the word “Nitro,” referring to the wasteland-themed season that features nitro-powered cars.
Therefore, the word has always proven to be a big deal when it appears, and next season’s word was no different.
On August 10, Mark Rein posted on his Twitter/X account in response to a player asking what the word for the next season was. He simply replied, “My word for Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4 is Absolutely.”
Although “Absolute” seems extremely vague compared to the previously mentioned words, it hints at the all but confirmed Marvel theme for the next season.
One theory is that it could possibly be Marvel’s Absolute Carnage comics. They were released in 2019 and feature Carnage as the main villain and Venom as the main character.
However, things are about to get interesting as the plot reportedly involves all Marvel characters being infected by a symbiote and will feature Spider-Man, Deadpool, Miles Morales and others.
Another Marvel theory suggests that it could be an absolute point. In the multiverse, this is an event that must occur in time. Interestingly, if the multiversal flow is disrupted in a way that prevents an absolute point from occurring, the universe collapses in on itself.
With the Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 live event kicking off on August 10 at 2:00 PM ET and Stark Industries’ Rift Beacons mysteriously appearing around the island in Chapter 5, this could all be related to some sort of disruption event at Absolute Point to kick off the new Marvel-themed season.
However, since Doctor Doom is supposedly the star of the show for next season according to the leaked Fortnite 2024 roadmap, and many believe him to be the identity of The Wanderer, it’s unclear how this would fit with the “Absolute” rumors.
Overall, nothing has been confirmed by Epic about the theme of the next season or what “Absolute” means for Fortnite Chapter 5, Season 4. The theories and rumors provided are just that.
