“Enjoy Utah”: Lauri Markkanen’s epic social media post shakes the internet ahead of the new NBA season

The Utah Jazz are not one of the dominant teams in the Western Conference. With six fewer games lost this season than in the 2022-2023 season, the Jazz seem to be stuck in the middle of the pack forever. But there is always a bright side; for the Jazz, that bright side was Lauri Markkanen.

After the season ended, however, rumors soon began to circulate around the league about the Finnish All-Star forward. Jazz fans thought their last chance to win a championship was over when rumors began to swirl that the Warriors would sign him. Thankfully, the 7-foot-4 player refutes rumors that he is “unhappy in Utah” and has no plans to go anywhere.

Markkanen shared a photo of himself in Provo Canyon holding a fish. To appease Jazz fans, he captioned the photo, “Enjoying Utah,” a comforting statement about his feelings for the area. Markkanen has expressed in several interviews that he is excited to play for the Jazz and stay in Salt Lake City.

The Finn was the Jazz’s top scorer at the end of the season, averaging 23.2 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. He also showed impressive three-point shooting and field percentage.

Markkanen is 7’4″ and can hold his own in the box, but his ability to stretch the court efficiently adds even more appeal to his performances. He averaged 39.9% from the three-point line, 89.9% from the free throw line and 48.0% from the field.

Many thought Markkanen had become dissatisfied with the Jazz because they weren’t moving in any direction. It doesn’t look like Utah is signing players to win a championship. However, the team doesn’t seem to be collapsing, so rumors of a trade are circulating. The Warriors are trying to improve their roster by signing more talent since Klay Thompson left the team last offseason.

The Warriors acquired Buddy Hield for Thompson. Markkanen was also considered a stretch forward to help their star shooting guard Stephen Curry make the transition. However, the rumors quickly died down after Lauri’s recent photo on social media showing him grinning widely. Markkanen also seems happy where he is now, even though the Jazz aren’t moving.
