After ten years of work on the eight films Harry Potter pour made quite a bit of money. The stars of the film ended up making big money and earning millions. When they were cast as children, it was hard for them to imagine that kind of financial security. As children, they were asked what they would do with their earnings, and in true Hermione fashion, Emma Watson knew exactly how she would manage her money. But Rupert Grint’s adorable “Ron” answer tops it all off.
In 2000, a press conference was held with the young stars of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone where they were asked all sorts of questions about the film franchise and what it is like to become a movie star as a teenager. In a newly surfaced Instagram During the conference, Daniel Radcliffe, Watson and Grint were asked what they would do with their acting salaries for the film. Watson, then 10 years old, was wonderfully practical and said:
That’s a pretty clever answer for such a young girl who knew what a huge responsibility such a paycheck meant at her age. Grint, however, had a much sillier answer to the question, saying that his new wizarding status made the “Muggle” money confusing. The 12-year-old said:
For context: Harry Potter In the world, Muggles are what is known as non-magical people. Grint’s answer is a very special kind of cleverness, because he knows how to answer a question he himself does not know the answer to in a cute way. When he did get his big payday, Grint used it to buy an ice cream truck. He basically bought what every kid wants and made it happen. I’m sure he saved a lot of it too when he finally understood “Muggle money,” but the fun purchases are always the most exciting ones you hear about.
The real question is how much the actors actually get for their participation in eight Harry Potter Films? Radcliffe, who played the title role, reportedly received between $145,000 and $1 million for the first film. This salary naturally increased, and in the last two films the The Harry Potter actor earned $20 million per filmWatson and Grint were also paid generously, each film grossed $15 million until the end of the series. This does not take into account the back pay, as the cast will continue to receive checks in the mail from the numerous times Harry Potter Movies are played on television or streamed.
If they all invested their money and kept it safe in a bank, as Watson claims was their intention, then they would all have made so much money that they would never have to work again. However, they all decided to continue working as actors, as Radcliffe became a prolific stage actor, appearing in films such as Swiss Army Man And The lost city. Watson has appeared in films such as Beauty and the Beast And Little Womenwhile Grint played the lead role in the AppleTV+ series, servant and was part of the Knock on the hut Ensemble cast. Not bad for a bunch of muggles.
