On Friday, August 23, Emily Potter, in partnership with the Emily Potter Basketball Elite Camp, will host a special event called “Mad Love for Female Hoopers.” The event is designed to build connections within the Winnipeg basketball community and will specifically focus on young female athletes ages 5-12. The event will take place at the Emily Potter Outdoor Basketball Court behind Glenlawn Collegiate (5 Fermor Ave). Registration is required.

This event has been a long-held dream of Emily Potter, who has always wanted to create a place where people who love basketball can connect and grow together. With the help of a generous donation from Canada Basketball, she is hosting the basketball camp of her dreams for the province’s best players. This camp, which is by invitation only and free for athletes, will be the first of many annual Emily Potter Elite Camps.

At the end of the camp, a free clinic will be held for young girls of all skill levels, whether they are just starting out or have been playing for years. Families are welcome to come, watch and participate in the activities. Emily Potter and the camp’s elite athletes will lead the girls through various drills and games, providing the next generation with the opportunity to meet and look up to these accomplished players.

The event will also feature free food and drinks, a tie-dye station and other giveaways. Emily Potter stresses the importance of providing role models for young female athletes. She felt that was missing growing up, but now she is determined to change that for the next generation.

Registration is required and will be limited to ensure each participant has adequate time on the course. Further details, including the venue, will be provided on the registration form. The camp list and further details will be posted shortly.
