The good folks at Playtonic Friends and developer Knight Shift Games have exciting news to announce today. They have finally announced a release date for the upcoming rogue-like platformer Elsie – it’s coming to PC, Switch, and PS5 on September 10th! And even better, in honor of the event, they’ve got an epic new animated trailer for us. Not only was it created by the talented David Liu, but it also features the voice actor who plays Elsie singing a new theme song.

All I’m saying is, if they want to make an animated series with this artistic caliber, I’m in. But in the meantime, here’s a summary of what the game is about:

Elsie is a neo-retro, hyperkinetic, rogue-like action platformer full of procedurally generated levels and an army of robots to overcome.

After an attack on the city of Neotoño, Dr. Grey seeks refuge in a beach bastion called Sapir Wharf.

Here she creates Elsie: an android whose mission is to uncover the secret behind the attack and save the planet Ekis from the disasters that have befallen it.

Players must run, dive, and shoot their way through levels filled with dynamic enemies and thrilling boss battles, always executing perfectly timed, precise parries. In this roguelike rollercoaster, players will die and die and die again – but you’ll always get back on your feet to embrace the chaos.
