Contributed Photo/Garrett Johnson has been promoted to assistant director of facilities and grounds for the Elizabethton Parks and Recreation Department.

The Elizabethton Parks and Recreation Department has announced the promotions of Kelly Kitchens and Garrett Johnson to Assistant Directors, reflecting the department’s continued growth and commitment to improving community services.

Kitchens, who has served the City of Elizabethton for over 23 years, has been named Assistant Director of Recreation. In this new role, she will manage special events, programs and sporting events, drawing on her extensive experience as a program and special events coordinator.

Johnson, who brings 14 years of experience to the department, has been promoted to assistant director of facilities and grounds. He will oversee maintenance and aquatics, building on his successful tenure as maintenance director.

“The Elizabethton Parks and Recreation Department has experienced tremendous growth over the past few years, and these appointments reflect our commitment to serving the community with excellence,” said David Nanney, Parks and Recreation Director. “Kelly and Garrett have been instrumental in our success, and their leadership will be critical as we continue to expand our capacity and improve the quality of life for all residents.”

The strategic expansion of the department’s leadership is aimed at maintaining and improving the range of programs, facilities and events that benefit the residents of Elizabethton and ensuring that the needs of the community are met now and in the future.
