Early move-in day at the University of Alabama

Early move-in day at the University of Alabama

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama (WBRC) – Fall classes don’t begin for University of Alabama students until Aug. 21, but thousands have already begun making The Capstone their second home.

Some students who will be living on campus have been allowed to move in and settle in. Tutwiler Hall was a hive of activity as freshmen began moving into the all-female dorm.

They are among a group of more than 3,000 students taking advantage of early move-in opportunities three days this week. Others are in the Million Dollar Band, the Honors College, Camp 1831 or participating in service projects before fall classes.

“I definitely had to gather a lot of stuff. And it took a long time to get everything together, especially all my clothes. I was trying to decide what to leave behind and what to take with me. It’s definitely a surreal feeling. Kind of mixed feelings. I’m super excited but sad to leave home. It’s going to be a great year,” said Kate Ryan Black, who is moving to UA from Birmingham.

Students also move in early into the Presidential Village Hall on the north side of campus.
