DP World sets new targets to reduce CO2 emissions

DP World has received validation from the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) for its commitment to reduce its carbon footprint.

The company has committed to reducing Scope 1 greenhouse gas emissions by 42 percent by 2030, based on the base year 2022.

The company has also committed to reducing Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 62.2 percent and absolute Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions by 28 percent within the same period.

This follows previous commitments under which DP World announced a 13 percent reduction in emissions since the base year 2022.

Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and CEO of DP World, said: “DP World is committed to leading the supply chain industry towards a more sustainable and efficient future, ultimately achieving net zero emissions by 2050.

“The endorsement by the SBTi confirms the strength and ambition of our plans as we remain determined to play a central role in uniting our industry for a better future.”

“In addition, we look forward to increasing collaboration through industry-wide initiatives such as green trade corridors and port electrification, as is the case with our Zero Emissions Port Alliance.”

Earlier this month, DP selected World Pledge to measure the impact of its Modal Shift Programme (MSP) to switch from road to rail.
