Dodge County kayaker missing from Green Lake since August 12


The search began on August 12 at 5:34 a.m. and was scheduled to continue on August 14.

FOND DU LAC – A 44-year-old man is still missing after he failed to return home from kayaking on Green Lake.

The Green Lake County Sheriff’s Office began searching at 5:34 a.m. on Aug. 12 after the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office notified the communications center that he had not returned home from Green Lake the night before, according to the Green Lake County Sheriff’s Office’s initial press release.

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and Bruce’s Legacy Search and Recovery assisted in the search with boats.

During the search, officers found an unoccupied, overturned kayak with a life jacket attached, as well as the missing kayaker’s vehicle, near Dodge Memorial Park.

The search was suspended on August 12 at around 8 p.m. and resumed on August 13.

According to an Aug. 14 update from the Green Lake County Sheriff’s Office, the boats searched the suspect area using side-scan sonar and underwater drones while a sheriff’s office drone unit searched from the air. The Aug. 13 search was called off around 4 p.m.

As the search continues, the drone unit will continue its search from the air and officials will continue to search the deepest waters of Big Green Lake as resources become available.
