The only way to the 8th Wonder of the World will not be accessible to you for the time being.

Starting August 26, the Jungle Cruise ride at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom will be temporarily closed for renovations.

When will Jungle Cruise at Disney World in Orlando reopen?

The Jungle Cruise will be closed until Thursday, October 17th and will reopen to guests on Friday, October 18th. Just in time for the holiday season!

Why is Jungle Cruise at Disney World in Orlando closed?

The exact reasons for the renovation have not been disclosed. WDW Magic previously said it had applied for several permits for the attraction, including one from contractor Underwater Engineering Services Inc. Many speculate that this is just routine maintenance and not a replacement of any show elements.

Theme park fans know that the attraction has gone through several “reimaginings” that added new animatronics and details to its backstory, and it hasn’t been closed for renovations since 2017.

How long is the Jungle Cruise at Disney World? What you should know about the ride

In its official description, Disney World states that the attraction takes guests on a 10-minute scenic and fun boat tour through Asia, Africa and South America. The attraction was one of the main attractions when Magic Kingdom opened in 1971.

Theme park blog All Ears reports that early versions of the Jungle Cruise at Disneyland were joke-free and based on Disney’s True Life Adventure Series. In the 1960s, animator Marc Davis was recruited by Walt Disney to “spice up” some of the attractions.

Davis worked on the Jungle Cruise and revitalized the attraction by adding comical safari sequences that turned the captain’s commentary into what we know today.

If you have already planned a trip to Disney’s Magic Kingdom for fall 2024, you can still get the chance to go on a Jungle Cruise.

Disney has turned its legendary rides into a film in 2021, joining the ranks of Pirates of the Caribbean, The Haunted Mansion and Tower of Terror.

Set in 1917 during World War I, USA TODAY wrote that “Jungle Cruise” stars Emily Blunt as British botanist Lily Houghton, who is searching for a legendary ancient tree whose petals have amazing healing powers that could change medicine forever. However, she must find a way to get there, so she heads to South America, where she meets Frank Wolff (Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson), a financially struggling riverboat captain who offers tourists jungle cruises that are full of hilarious jokes and the occasional quirky fact.

Lily hires Frank and sets sail in his dilapidated ship to find her treasure. Along the way, they must contend with pesky natives, rocky waterfalls, and other obstacles.

The film also stars Jesse Plemons, Edgar Ramírez and Jack Whitehall.

Park-goers saw the return of Peter Pan’s Flight at Magic Kingdom earlier this month, with one of the scenes undergoing a major overhaul. After years of criticism for its “caricatures” of Native Americans, the “Never Land Tribe scene” has been removed from the stereotypical depictions.

“We consider ourselves constant learners and make thoughtful changes as we find ways to make our attractions and experiences more authentic and relatable, and our stories build a deeper connection with our guests,” Officials said in a statement.
