From D23 and the Disney Parks Blog

Moments ago, fans attending the Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, along with more than 1.2 million concurrent players around the world watching live in Fortnite, enjoyed all of the latest reveals and first looks at new Disney content coming to Fortnite this year. Disney executives from Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar Animation Studios, Lucasfilm and Marvel Studios also shared their vision of what’s possible in the future entertainment universe that Epic Games is creating in partnership with Disney.

DISNEY & EPIC GAMES

Imagine a place where all your favorite Disney characters and worlds come together in one connected universe – where you can watch, play, and even create your own adventures. Earlier this year, Disney announced a new collaboration with Epic Games, the makers of Fortnite, to create an entirely new gaming and entertainment universe.

Although this new experience is still a few years away, Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Experiences, invited four of the world’s best storytellers to the stage during the presentation to share their excitement about bringing their creativity to this new medium of storytelling.

Their comments were streamed live on Fortnite, in an immersive experience created exclusively for the presentation – the Disney Horizons Live from Island D23. This interactive social watch party was created using Epic’s Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) and allowed players to enter the presentation through cheers, mini-games, and spectacular visual effects.

The message for fans and players alike – Disney is fully committed to creating this new universe.

WALT DISNEY ANIMATION STUDIOS

First, Jennifer Lee, Chief Creative Officer of Walt Disney Animation Studios, shared her team’s excitement about the potential of this collaboration, giving fans of Disney villains a deliciously nasty taste. Later this fall, Maleficent, Cruella de Vil, and Captain Hook will be the first Disney Animation characters to join Fortnite.

PIXAR ANIMATION STUDIOS

Innovation and pushing the boundaries of creativity and imagination are at the core of what has made Pixar popular around the world, and for Pete Docter, Pixar’s Chief Creative Officer, this new collaboration with Epic offers his team the opportunity to experiment with original ideas in new formats.

Pete also gave a glimpse of upcoming content coming to Pixar’s first Fortnite later this fall, The Incredibles.

STAR WARS

Dave Filoni, Chief Creative Officer of Lucasfilm, gave a little preview of the new star Wars Characters and items coming to Fortnite – IG-11, Moff Gideon, and the brand new Grogu dynamic back bling are coming… next week!

MARVEL STUDIOS

From movies to games, Marvel fans will remember the first-ever entertainment-gameplay crossover in Fortnite – the addition of the Infinity Gauntlet from Avengers: Infinity War in 2018.

Today’s crossover event kicked off in Fortnite with a thrilling in-game conclusion to the current Battle Royale season, which saw the power of Pandora’s Box once again emerge and serve as the catalyst for a world premiere on stage of a new cinematic and gameplay trailer that revealed the origins of a new upcoming Marvel-themed season, introduced on stage at D23 by Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios.

Check back on Friday, August 16th as the story continues in Chapter 5, Season 4 of Fortnite Battle Royale: Absolute Doom featuring the Fantastic Four and Doctor Doom!

The new season allows players from all over the world to continue the Fortnite and Marvel story with new action-packed gameplay and new locations to explore.

If you want to experience the experience again or missed it the first time, Disney Horizons Live by D23 The island in Fortnite is accessible until August 16th using the island code 7908-6413-2516 or through Fortnite’s Discover menu.
