Jazz Aspen Snowmass (JAS) announced that due to unforeseen circumstances, Tim McGraw has canceled his performance at the upcoming JAS Labor Day Experience scheduled for September 1.

Multi-platinum singer and songwriter Dierks Bentley will replace McGraw and close the festival this Sunday.

“After a long and physically demanding summer tour, Tim McGraw, in close consultation with his doctors, will undergo necessary orthopedic surgery on both knees this month due to an injury sustained on tour. Unfortunately, this will prevent him from performing shows for the remainder of the year and he will not be appearing at the JAS Labor Day Experience on September 1st,” said a press release from McGraw’s team. “Tim doesn’t want to disappoint his fans, but he plans to rest and do physical therapy so he can continue to perform great shows for many years to come.”

According to Forbes, Dierks Bentley has “one of country music’s most enviable brands, one that combines kindness and authenticity in equal measure.” Bentley co-wrote 10 of the 13 tracks on his latest album, “The Mountain,” which earned him the highest sales of his career and became his seventh chart-topping album. Bentley has amassed 17 number-one hits, billions of digital streams, countless nominations at the ACMs and Billboard Music Awards and more in his career, while also earning 13 Grammy nominations – including at least one for each of his last six albums.

“We are very fortunate that Dierks performed a sold-out show at Red Rocks the night before and was available at the last minute to replace Tim McGraw,” said Jim Horowitz, President and CEO of JAS. “We are leaving no stone unturned! Dierks’ high-energy performance will be a great closing show.”

A few general admission tickets are still available for the Sunday, September 1 performances, including The Black Crowes and The War and Treaty. Other performances over the weekend include Brandi Carlile and Lukas Nelson on Friday, August 30, and Sting, OneRepublic and Michael Marcagi on August 31. Tickets for all shows can be purchased at jazzaspensnowmass.org.

JAS and AXS have sent an email to all current general admission ticket holders for Sunday, September 1 with further information regarding cancellation and ticket options. For more information, visit jazzaspensnowmass.org.
