Diane Carson from ‘The Traitors’ breaks her silence about her ‘murder’ in an epic funeral episode

Diane Carson from “The Traitors” has admitted that developing close friendships with some of her co-stars “distracted” her from her planned game strategy.

The 63-year-old retired teacher was “murdered” in the BBC programme “Traitors” – British army engineer Harry Clark (22), business manager Paul Gorton (36) and veterinary nurse Miles Asteri (36) – in an emotional episode on Wednesday evening (17.01.24), during which an elaborate funeral procession for Diane also took place.

At the beginning of the epic episode, the believers – the remaining members of the group except the three traitors – did not know who had been killed and had to correctly guess by answering questions about each other.

The believers correctly identified Diane and it was a particularly emotional moment for believer Ross Carson.

It was revealed at the beginning of the series that he is Diane’s son, and in the show’s seventh episode on Wednesday night, he was practically forced to watch his own mother’s “funeral” unfold before his eyes.

Looking back on her time on ‘The Traitors’, Diane told The Sun newspaper: “My strategy was really just to be myself and make sure I didn’t make any too deep friendships.”

“But there were some people whose personalities really appealed to me, and it distracted from the gameplay I had in mind.

“When you’ve made friends and you’re chatting with someone and sharing parts of your life, it’s actually very difficult to believe that this person is playing a really clever game because you’ve made a connection and you assume they’re nice people.

“There’s some kind of inner voice that says, ‘Oh, if they can behave like that in this game, then maybe they’re not great people,’ which of course isn’t true. They just played a good game.”

Diane and Ross decided not to tell their fellow stars about their mother-son relationship, but now she admitted that he almost messed up their plan in the early stages.

She explained: “He had already gotten the secret wrong because he was supposed to tell everyone he was from Blackpool, but he immediately told everyone he was from Lytham!

“That messed up my plan because I wanted to tell people I was from Lytham, so I said I was from Ireland.”

Diane was “murdered” after the traitor Miles gave her a “poison chalice” to drink.

But that was exactly what ultimately led to Miles’ downfall, as his fellow traitors Paul and Harry turned against him and he was banished from the rest of the group.
