Diablo 4 players want a new quality of life feature added to the game

Highlights

  • Fans are calling on Blizzard to allow toggling other players’ ability effects in Diablo 4 to reduce visual clutter in gameplay.
  • Season 5’s Infernal Hordes mode introduces wave-based gameplay, while Burning Aether helps unlock powerful gear.
  • Players also want the return of features from Diablo 3, such as the wardrobe system, to increase the fun of the game.

Some Diablo4 Fans are calling on Blizzard to allow players to toggle other players’ ability effects in the game. Diablo4 is in the fifth season and can’t wait to release the new expansion Vessel of Hate in October 2024, which would be a great time to make such improvements along with the new features and elements that are scheduled to be introduced.

The fifth season of Diablo4 launched on August 6. The big addition of the season is a wave-based endgame game mode called Infernal Hordes, where players battle swarms of the game’s enemies to collect Burning Aether. The Burning Aether can then be used to open chests containing powerful gear that is crucial to perfecting competitive players’ character builds.

Since new skills and aspects are constantly being added in updates, Diablo4 Gaming sessions can become a real visual mess when other players are involved. A Redditor on the Diablo4 This subreddit has complained about multiple AoE effects that can stack when playing with others. Echoing the general sentiment in the subreddit since the game’s release, they called for Blizzard to give players the ability to turn off others’ abilities and effects to reduce visual clutter and redundancy on screen. Other Reddit users seem to agree with the idea, pointing out that the Season 5 update with Rain Hellfire is particularly exacerbating this issue.

There is still a lot to fix in Diablo 4

With nearly 200,000 active players around the world, this complaint is far from the only thing fans of Blizzard’s game want to change. There are many small elements that could be improved, and as a live service game, Blizzard has the ability to keep fixing and refining things over time. For example, other fans are calling for changes to Conduit Shrines in Diablo4 by increasing lightning damage. Fortunately, Blizzard is a game developer that has always taken balance and the gameplay experience seriously, and is not afraid to make the necessary corrections.

In fact, players miss many features that were first introduced in Diablo3. A very popular return is the Diablo3 Wardrobe system that acts as a loading screen and allows players to switch between character builds on the fly. Since the game actively encourages players to keep creating new characters to try out different builds each season, such a feature would definitely make players’ lives a lot easier.

In the meantime, Vessel of Hate arrives just in time for Halloween. The expansion DLC aims to revive a game that started strong but saw its hype wane due to low-key content updates and aggressive monetization. While the promise of change is definitely there, it remains to be seen whether it can spark renewed interest.
