Devin Townsend announces new album “PowerNerd”

Devin Townsend will soon release his new studio album PowerNerd on October 25th. Townsend ushers in his next chapter with the upcoming record, which combines aggression and melody on 11 tracks. The title track, which features a guest appearance by Jamey Jasta, gives a taste of what’s to come.

PowerNerd The artwork is by our long-time collaborator Travis Smith.

Townsend comments:

“That was a conscious thing. I thought, ‘I’ve spent so much time thinking about every aspect of my work—what would happen if I didn’t do this?’ Maybe then I’d have the opportunity to be a little more direct with what I’m trying to do. I really wanted to see if I could break through some of that rambling. I would say a power nerd would be someone who has a tendency that society deems weak or worthless, whether it’s empathy or being insular or introverted, and turns that into some kind of personal strength. It’s like, ‘OK, yeah, I’m sensitive to this, that and that, but man, I’m going to push through it! I’m going to do things with that sensitivity that are rooted in strength.'”
