Devin Booker sets the tone in the gold medal game against France

Devin Booker and Kevin Durant were key starters for Team USA on Saturday as the Americans battled to a 49-41 lead over France at halftime of their men’s basketball game in Paris.

Booker was one of three players from either team to score in double figures, scoring 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting. He hit two three-pointers and grabbed two rebounds and two assists in his 11:38 minutes on the court.

Durant had a quieter first half (six points) on his way to his fourth gold medal, but was still effective. The Phoenix Suns forward hit two three-pointers, including a momentum swinger with less than three minutes left in the second quarter. He also contributed three dimes, one of which went to Booker, and two defensive rebounds.

The rest of the US team’s performance was balanced: LeBron James was the second-best scorer with seven points, and Stephen Curry and Anthony Edwards each scored six points, equaling Durant.

Victor Wembanyama was a force for his host country France, collecting 13 points, five rebounds and two assists in 14:30 of playing time.
