Detroit doctor made sexual advances to 76-year-old and touched himself – says prosecutor

A Detroit doctor faces prison time after he made unwanted sexual advances to a 76-year-old woman and touched himself in front of her, according to authorities in Macomb County.

Stephen Mason, 54, was charged with assault and causing a public nuisance following the unwanted encounter earlier this month.

According to the Macomb County District Attorney, Mason befriended the 76-year-old woman online and drove her home from a hair appointment on August 1.

Detroit doctor Stephen Mason is accused of touching himself in front of a 76-year-old woman after she rejected his sexual advances.

When they arrived at the woman’s home, she invited Mason in. There, officers say, Mason made sexual advances to her – which she rejected. When he was rejected, he began masturbating in front of her, according to prosecutors.

Mason was charged Monday with assault, a misdemeanor punishable by 93 days in jail, and aggravated sexual battery, a misdemeanor punishable by two years in jail. He was arraigned in Sterling Heights and ordered held on $1,000 bail.

“Our legal system does not discriminate based on profession or social status. Whether you are a doctor or any other member of society, the law applies equally to everyone. We strive to impartially pursue justice and ensure that all persons are held accountable for their actions,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
