Dead Rising no longer rewards players for taking intimate photos of female characters in the game.

While players can still level up by taking photos of gory, violent or funny scenes in the game – which are categorised as horror, brutality and outtakes respectively – the previous “erotica” category will be removed with the release of the remaster next month.

As Famitsu noted, this means you will no longer receive prestige points for photographing women’s underwear or cleavage.

Capcom hasn’t commented on why the feature was removed for the upcoming remake, but considering the original game came out in 2006, perhaps this is a testament to how much times – and tastes – have changed over the years.

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster will be released on September 19th for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 and PC, with a physical release to follow.

Capcom’s Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is a remaster of the original 2006 game that puts players in the shoes of photojournalist Frank West as he spends three days investigating Colorado’s sprawling, zombie-infested Willamette Parkview Mall. The slapstick action gets a fresh coat of paint, quality of life improvements, and more.

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster will be available in two digital editions – there’s the Standard Edition for £39.99 and a Digital Deluxe Edition for £49.99 which includes 17 costumes for Frank and 17 additional mall music tracks.
