Aug. 19 (UPI) – Life and I And Welcome to Gravity Falls Graduate Danielle Fishel has announced that she is battling breast cancer.

Fishel, 43, announced the news in Monday’s edition of Pod meets worldthe Re-Watch podcast, which she hosts with her former co-stars Rider Strong and Will Friedle.

“I was recently diagnosed with DCIS, which stands for ductal carcinoma in situ, a form of breast cancer,” Fishel said.

“It’s still very, very, very early. Technically, it’s stage zero. More specifically, just because I like too much information all the time, I was diagnosed with high-grade DCIS with microinvasion,” the actress added. “I’m going to be OK. I’m going to have surgery to remove it. I’m going to have follow-up care. I’ve had to make a lot of decisions in the last few days.”

Fishel said she hopes her story inspires listeners to get mammograms to detect and treat the disease in its early stages.

The actress and her husband Jensen Karp have two sons: Adler, 5, and Keaton, 3.
