Dallas shooting: 17-year-old shoots man in the head who was banging on the door; affidavit says

According to Dallas police, a 17-year-old wanted for a murder in Old East Dallas has turned himself in.

On August 5, police responded to a shooting on Munger Avenue, near N Hall Street, where police found 38-year-old Raul Torres, who had been shot.

Torres was hospitalized in critical condition. He died on Sunday.

Shortly thereafter, investigators issued an arrest warrant for 17-year-old Francisco Bautista in connection with the shooting.

According to an arrest warrant released Wednesday, Bautista and two other people were inside a home when Torres arrived and banged on the door, demanding to be let in.

One of the witnesses called 911 because Torres was trying to force his way in. However, the arrest warrant states that Bautista went outside and shot Torres three times in the head. He later died in the hospital.

A witness told police that Torres had already stopped banging on the door and walked away when Bautista went outside to confront him.

According to the affidavit, Bautista told witnesses, “What? He tried to come in.”

According to police, Bautista got into his car and fled the scene. He turned himself in to the Dallas County Jail on Tuesday.

Bautista is charged with murder and is being held on $500,000 bail.
