Dallas Mavericks play first NBA game in LA Clippers’ new Intuit Dome

Dallas Mavericks play first NBA game in LA Clippers’ new Intuit Dome

The Los Angeles Clippers are finally getting their new arena after sharing one with the Lakers since the turn of the century. The Intuit Dome is as state-of-the-art as can be, featuring a Halo Board, phone chargers at every seat, t-shirt cannons in the rafters and more. The Dallas Mavericks will be the first NBA team to visit the arena.

According to Marc Stein, the Clippers’ first preseason home game will be on October 14 against the Mavs. Their first regular-season game will be on October 23 against Devin Booker and the Phoenix Suns. The arena will host a few concerts before each basketball game, starting with two back-to-back Bruno Mars concerts this weekend.

The Mavs and Clips have a long history since the 2020s began with three separate first-round playoff series. LA picked up the wins in 2020 and 2021 despite Luka Doncic’s otherworldly stats before the Mavs advanced in 2024. It’s only fitting that the Intuit Dome opens against a playoff rival.

Dallas’ first-round win over the Clippers last year prompted PJ Washington’s “Standing on Business” pose, which became a standard throughout the postseason. Paul George, no longer with the Clippers after joining the 76ers in the offseason, tried to steal that pose during the series, but it backfired after a bad Game 6.
