At the Pwnie Awards, known for highlighting both successes and failures in cybersecurity, Sentonas took the stage to accept the award, which was given at the last minute due to the enormity of CrowdStrike’s mistake. The crowd reacted positively, appreciating Sentonas’ willingness to admit the company’s mistake.

In his acceptance speech, Sentonas expressed that the award was nothing to be proud of, but stressed the importance of accountability. He explained that he immediately accepted the award voluntarily to demonstrate the company’s commitment to transparency. Sentonas acknowledged the severity of the mistake, admitting that CrowdStrike “got this terribly wrong,” and stressed that the company must learn from its mistakes.
