The excitement at the Celebrity Race Across the World is already building, the participants have just left the first checkpoint.
Jeff Brazier stormed off after an argument with his son Freddy and now we see Kelly Brook arguing with her husband Jeremy Parisi over decisions in the teaser for next week’s episode. It’s no secret that Race Across the World and its celebrity spin-off are one of the toughest shows around.
At the end of the first episode, viewers got a taste of what was to happen next week. In nerve-wracking scenes, Brook complained that her husband had made her a “miserable wife” as they disagreed over an upcoming decision. Taking aim at her husband, the model seemed unfazed by the decision to stay in cheap accommodation.
What, how and why?
She said, “You have a nice, cheap room and an unhappy wife, so well done.”
The sarcastic comment became even more sarcastic when Brook patted her husband Parisi on the shoulder and said “well done”. In the BBC show, the stars compete for a budget and here the couple can’t agree on how to spend their money.
Money is always a big sticking point in reality TV formats, as there are inevitably moments when the pairings can’t agree on what they should and shouldn’t spend money on. Cutting costs on accommodation can make the difference between having the budget to compete or not. The BBC show is tricky, as the TV stars have to forgo the luxuries they are used to and don’t get VIP treatment.
Brook, however, is fully aware of this. Speaking about the race, she admitted in the teaser for next week, “It’s going to be brutal.” In an on-camera post, Brook made it clear how vulnerable the stars would be while filming the show. She said, “You take off the armor and you’re really naked.”
Celebrity Race Across the World series
Brook and Parisi have been together since 2014 and married in 2022, so they really know each other very well, which will benefit them on the journey. It also means the couple is clear about what will annoy them about their partner while participating in the show.
Of course, they have their differences and one of them is that Parisi is an early riser while his wife Brook is not. Some of Parisi’s early morning behavior really gets on Brook’s nerves.
“I was a little jet-lagged today and Jeremy was literally awake at 5am and because he didn’t have his phone with him, there was nothing to keep him occupied. So he was jumping up and down like an excited child, opening the windows and wanting me to wake up. He’s like a coiled spring,” Brook explained.
There are two sides to this, however, as Parisi said he would be annoyed to have to wait for his wife so they could continue racing. He said: “I think I’ll wait for Kelly. Since I get up early, I’ll wait until she’s ready.”
Unfortunately, this is a situation that the couple is faced with time and time again on the show. Getting the early bus or train can be the difference between winning and losing. We can’t wait to see how Brook and Parisi get along.
