Controversial boxer Imane Khelif joins legal battle against Harry Potter author JK Rowling

JK Rowling was named in a cyberbullying lawsuit filed by Algerian boxer Imane Khelif.

The 25-year-old boxer recently won gold at the Paris Olympics, but subsequently filed legal action against the Harry Potter author, Elon Musk and other public figures for making comments about her gender based on misinformation that surfaced online.

“The lawsuit names JK Rowling and Elon Musk, among others,” Nabil Boudi, Khelif’s lawyer, told Variety.

The lawyer also confirmed that former US President Donald Trump was involved in the investigation.

“Trump tweeted, so he’s bound to be investigated as part of law enforcement, whether he’s named in our lawsuit or not,” Boudi said.

Khelif, who was born and identifies as a woman, accuses her of “acts of severe cyber harassment.”

The complaint is directed against the social media platform X and is therefore, under French law, directed against an unknown person.

This gives the public prosecutor’s office “all the leeway it needs to investigate all persons.”
