Clark County confirms investigation into animal hotel in Las Vegas area

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — A Las Vegas-area pet hotel has caught the attention of local authorities, who told Channel 13 that investigators have documented “multiple violations” on the premises.

A VIP Pet Resort near 215 Beltway and Las Vegas Boulevard first caught the attention of Channel 13 anchor Joe Moeller when several viewers raised concerns.

We wanted to find out if the county was aware of the allegations. On Thursday, a Clark County spokesperson confirmed that A VIP Pet Resort was being investigated for “possible illegal breeding.”

The county’s involvement in the investigation began on Aug. 10, when the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department requested animal control assistance, the spokesperson wrote in an email to Channel 13.

“Animal control officers conducted a brief inspection of the property and discovered several violations,” the spokesperson said.

Investigators obtained a search warrant for the property and officers told us the search took place on Wednesday, August 21st.

“A thorough investigation of the property was conducted and numerous violations were discovered,” the Clark County spokesman said.

Several law enforcement agencies were involved in the search, including Clark County Code Enforcement, Clark County Fire Protection, Clark County Business License, Las Vegas Metro Police and the Southern Nevada Health District. Several of these agencies have issued citations or taken enforcement action against the owners of A VIP Pet Resort, according to Clark County.

“The investigation is currently ongoing,” the district spokesman noted in his email.
