On Thursday I started a new series offering my official fantasy football rankings for the 2024 season.

I started with quarterbacks and now I’m going to talk about running backs. I’m going to cover my top 30 fantasy options, which include standard league starting options and one flex player. I’m going to approach things from the PPR league standard. Let’s get right into it!

1.

He has been not only my best fantasy back all year, but my best fantasy player. At some point McCaffrey will decline, but I don’t think that will happen this season. Even if he declines a little, he should still be the best fantasy back in the game.

2.

I’m absolutely thrilled with Robinson this season and think he’s a real shooting star in his second NFL season. He should be more involved in the offense than he was last season and having a real quarterback on the team should just open up running lanes for him. He’s the only back I think could overtake McCaffrey this season.

3.

Hall is in a similar situation as he enters his third NFL season. He will have a true quarterback on his team for the first time and should be a workhorse. The only thing that concerns me is that he will get fewer checkdowns than he did last season – since he can actually complete some passes down the field.

4.

Gibbs is similar to Robinson in that I think he will get more work done in his second NFL season. The Lions have a better No. 2 () than the Falcons (), so Gibbs appears a few spots lower. If Montgomery is out for an extended period of time, Gibbs has a chance to qualify as a fantasy RB1.

5.

I’m extremely excited about Henry entering his first season with the Ravens. Baltimore loves to run the ball and Henry is the team’s best running back in a long time. Henry is a steal at his ADP and could lead the league in rushing touchdowns.

6.

Barkley is in a great situation with his new team and would be a top-five pick for me if it weren’t for injury concerns. I’m also a little worried about him stealing a lot of touchdowns and since Philly has more offensive playmakers, that could hurt Barkley’s fantasy value.

7.

Williams had a fantastic season in 2023, and even though the team drafted this offseason, I see that working in Williams’ favor. He may give up a few snaps and touches per game, but that could mean he comes through the season healthy and fairly fresh.

8.

I’m a little less sold on Taylor than most. Much like Barkley, Taylor has had some injury concerns over the past few seasons and is a quarterback () who can run the ball and steal some touchdowns. However, if he stays healthy, Taylor has the potential to be a top-5 pick.

9.

I like Pacheco more than many this season. Yes, he’s in a loaded Chiefs offense with plenty of passing and a much improved WR room, but Pacheco is the clear lead back in a high-flying offense and, if healthy, should be a top-10 fantasy finisher at the position.

10.

I’ve dropped Etienne down a few spots in his ADP rankings because he was less efficient as a ball carrier in his second season. He did throw for six more touchdowns, but I expect a slight regression there. He’s still a top-10 option for me, though, so he’s a starter every week.

11.

Jacobs is right behind Etienne for me, and originally I had Jacobs ahead of Etienne. I think Jacobs will thrive in Green Bay – he should be the clear No. 1 in a high-level offense, and that’s always a good thing for a fantasy back.

12.

Kamara is 16th in ADP among PPR fantasy backs, but I think that’s a steal. He’ll catch a ton of passes, which will make up for less rushing yards than all the backs around him. The only thing that scares me is his health, but a fully healthy season from Kamara, along with a decent touchdown performance, could be a top-eight fantasy prospect.

13.

I feel like White gets overlooked quite a bit as a fantasy player. Last season he rushed for over 1,500 yards and had nine touchdowns. The Bucs drafted him, but I still expect White to be the workhorse.

14.

Another player I think is overlooked is Mixon. He’s now in an offense full of playmakers, which might take away some touches from him, but should also give him more opportunities to prove himself and have scoring chances.

15.

I wanted to rank Cook higher, but Buffalo’s lack of pass catchers has me a little worried. The team also drafted who may lose even more opportunities. Oh, and he’ll steal a few touchdowns… Maybe this ranking is actually perfect for Cook?

16.

I think Achane is being drafted way too early right now. He’s still there and the Dolphins like to use all their RBs. There are also injury concerns, but his potential is huge so I can’t leave him out anymore.

17.III

Walker took a bit of a step back in his second NFL season, so I ranked him 17th. He should still be a workhorse, and if he stays healthy, he has the potential to perhaps be a top-10 running back.

18.

I’m also higher on Swift than most. The Bears’ passing game gets all the headlines, but they need someone to carry the ball and Swift was brought in as the RB1. As long as he doesn’t have major issues in his rookie season, Swift should be a fantasy back capable of being in the starting lineup most weeks.

19. David Montgomery

I think Montgomery will have a smaller role this season, but he will still get enough touches and points to be a starting option every week in fantasy leagues. If Gibbs gets injured, he has a chance to be a top-10 pick.

20.

I struggled to evaluate the next players, but took Jones here because he is the clear RB1 for his team and has a history of success. Injuries scare me, as does being his quarterback, but a healthy Jones could thrive in PPR leagues as a top checkdown option.

21.

Conner was fantastic when he was on the field last season. Injury concerns and team roster make me believe Conner takes a small step back this season.

22.

White could actually move up several spots, but I haven’t seen enough of him yet and every member of the Raiders’ offense seems like a shaky option given the quarterbacks that will be leading the charge.

23. Raheem Mostert

I believe Mostert, like Montgomery, will decline a bit this season, but in this high-caliber offense he will still put up enough yards and touchdowns to earn a spot in the starting lineup virtually every week.

24.

Stevenson is a comeback candidate for me, but he drops to 24th after some injury issues and is now his best backup. The unresolved QB situation is another problem.

25.

I had a hard time ranking Pittsburgh’s top two running backs. Harris still seems to be the best running back (by a small margin), and while he’s not a huge pass-catching threat, I like him better than Warren.

26. Jr.

I honestly could have switched between Robinson and , but I chose Robinson because he is younger and has been healthier recently. His ability to catch passes is what puts him in the top 30.

27.

Warren is just a few spots behind Harris. He is the bigger pass-catching threat and could out-receive several of the running backs ahead of him if he is just average at quarterback.

28.

I have Singletary here because I don’t like any of the other Giants running backs this season, and a full workload means more fantasy points. If New York plays better, Singletary could shoot way up in the final standings.

29.

As much as I like it, I think Zack Moss will easily be the best option in Cincinnati. Moss showed last season that he can be a good weekly fantasy option, and now, in a better offense, he could really take off.

30.

Pollard struggled last season but still managed over 1,300 yards. has more potential, but the Titans didn’t sign Pollard to be a Spears replacement. Pollard should be in the starting/sitting position for most of the season.
