Chicago shooting: 16-year-old boy charged in Bronzeville shooting that injured another teen near 44th Street, South King Drive

CHICAGO (WLS) — Chicago police said Sunday that charges have been filed against a 16-year-old boy after another 16-year-old boy was shot and grazed in the head following an altercation on the city’s south side Saturday afternoon.

The teenage victim was seriously injured shortly after the Bud Billiken Parade on the city’s south side on Saturday.

A Chicago Fire Department spokesman said a minor suffered a graze wound to the head near East 44th Street and South King Drive, near the Bronzeville parade route.

According to Chicago police officials, the shooting occurred after a verbal altercation around 2:15 p.m., about two hours after the Bud Billiken Parade ended.

The victim was taken to University of Chicago Hospital and was initially in good condition, police said. He is expected to recover.

No further injuries were reported.

The 16-year-old suspect was arrested at the scene and a firearm was also seized at the scene, police said.

The suspect was charged with unlawful use of a weapon and reckless conduct, police said.
