The teams started the first leg of the journey in Belem, Brazil and drove to the Canoa Quebrada checkpoint, which is located in another Brazilian state. Their final destination is Frutillar in Chile.

Although Jeremy insisted that they go inland, Kelly chose to spend almost the entire first 24 hours closer to the coast in Bragança, where they helped plant mangroves in exchange for a room.

While the other teams advanced to the checkpoint, the couple stayed behind.

“If we keep going like this, it will take us 200 days,” Jeremy told Kelly, urging her to pick up the pace.
