Cayuga County provides directory for temporarily relocated departments – Finger Lakes Daily News

Where can people receive services while the Cayuga County Office Building remains closed for much-needed repairs and maintenance?

Cayuga County Legislature Chairwoman Aileen McNabb-Coleman and County Manager Steve Lynch have created a temporary directory with contact and temporary location information for the departments displaced by the closure.

2024 was an eventful year for the 58-year-old building. In January, the building was forced to close after severe storms rocked the county. Short-term repairs were made to the roof to keep the building usable during the winter months until more permanent repairs could be made.

After reopening, McNabb-Coleman was forced to close the 160 Genesee Street location again in June after tests revealed that vermiculite, a mineral that may contain asbestos, had built up on several of the property’s windows following heavy rains in May. In her announcement, McNabb-Coleman said the building would likely remain closed until at least the end of August.

On Wednesday, August 14, a fire was discovered on the front facade of the building and was quickly extinguished by the Auburn Fire Department.
